Part 6: Kukushili - Zangser Kangri

Scary place.

One of the worst conditions Chang Tang has to offer - red mud. Fortunately not of the worst type.

This type of mud sticks like glue to the wheels and is almost impossible to take off.

It wasn't the kind that stuck even if you rolled the bike in water, so we could wash it off.

First clear sight of the Zangser Kangri Massif. Still about 70km away.

This huge wolf and three of its friends came all the way up to our tents to see who we were.

An old, lonely Kyang checking us out as we pushed/cycled on in a river bed.

The ever so curious sand foxes we encountered almost every day.

And of course lots of Chirus. This far south, only males.

Getting ready to roll down from one of the highest points en route. A pass some 30km from Burog Co. Altitude about 5400m. The beautiful lake not yet visible.

The nightly poker game. Happy Nadine, grumpy Janne. Straight flush vs. full house.

A Chiru at full speed in front of our next target - Purog Kangri.

The fine art of dental surgery.

A valley with red colored mountainsides.

Nice camp spot. The Zangser Kangri range and Burog Co in the background.

Purog Kangri seen from the east.

The welcome commité of Burog Co.

One of the main peaks in the Zangser Kangri Massif.

Burog Co.

A break with a view.

Early, misty morning. The northernmost part of the long Zangser Kangri Massif.

Ominous clouds over Purog Kangri. In the morning it was 0C, rain and hard wind, but at noon the weather became brilliant.

On the way up towards the summit of Purog Kangri. Mostly a long walk in snow.

Seracs on the eastern side of Purog Kangri.

Janne, Nadine and the symbol of corsairs on 6438m.

On the way down from the summit.

Postcard. Leaving the area south.

Another break with a view.
