Part 4: To Kukushili

The Kingdom of the Yaks! In this place we saw approximately 200 in the same spot. It was tempting to get closer, but we kept at a safe distance.

Some rivers were still frozen in the middle of the summer.

The terrain, weather and surface in this area shifted a lot - Ice

Sand

Snow and sand

Water.

Early morning pastell colors.

Cold morning, with warm sun.

5100m camp. Late evening. A grassy, perfect camp spot at a lake.

Looking out into the vestibule the next morning.

After half a minute of digging we found out what we had left there the night before.

Found the bikes.

Martin coming by for a visit early in the morning.

Found the direction - west.

Leaving the formerly so green, sunny and grassy camp spot at the lake. Snow everywhere.

Finally, seeing the target after 5 weeks of traveling in the wilderness. Kukushili, 6388m.

Heading there. Still two day's riding and one day of walking to get there.

Leaving the bikes and a lot of unnecessary gear behind about 20km from the peak.

Martin's backpack was monstrous!
